The Human Rights Division of the United Nations Peackeeping mission in Mali required branding and identity for its 2014 materials.
I held a consultation meeting with a woman I’ll never forget, who continues to inspire me as a mentor. Together, we came up with the slogan and imagery that was directly inspired by the very first article in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights:
“All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.”
She proved to be an eloquent client, who was able to communicate feedback on the behalf of her bureau very gracefully. I enjoyed working on this branding project, which took most people by surprise as it’s use of watercolour as a medium was unorthodox in a highly militarized peacekeeping mission.
