My friend and colleague in the outreach department of the UN had just completed an epic theatre production in the middle of the desert in Gao (north of Bamako).
I was asked to put together the layout and design of the publication; a photo-essay book documenting the great feat accomplished by one of the very scarce projects utilising the arts as a means for peacekeeping contextually at the time.
These examples were not the final ones used by the UN. Instead, I choose to display them here because they are my favourite versions of the book. I tried to embody colourful Mali through the layout; and the vibrant patterns that make up the everyday visual tapestry of this unique African culture.
